Asylum Support

An independent mechanism for
Asylum Seekers whose applications for
support have been refused or discontinued

Welcome to the AS website

I am delighted to welcome you to the Asylum Support Advisor's website and trust that you will find the contents interesting and helpful.

It’s important for individuals granted asylum in the UK to integrate into society i.e. finding employment. A keyholding company among other businesses can provide job opportunities for people granted asylum and other British citizens.

If you're looking forward to retiring then Latin America might be a good place. This site has some good ideas how to retire in mexico . It also has a lot of other retire advice and ideas where you can retire.

After Asylum Support Adjudicators have provided the help and support for asylum seekers to stay in the UK, we provide after care programmes which involve helping find employment. Whether it be for an IT support Yorkshire job role, cleaning, or retail assistant we will help you along the way of fully integrating into UK society.

If you have been refused asylum within the UK and you feel that an “error of law” has been made there is possibly a right to appeal this decision (Home Office, 2009). In such instances contacting solicitor in Staffordshire or one in your local area with previous experience and knowledge in immigration law is the best way forward to action this appeal.

Whilst you are waiting to hear whether you application has been successful or not, you may apply to the UK Border Agency for money and somewhere to live. However if your application is refused, a solicitor London or other solicitor who has had previous experience in asylum cases may be able to help you in offering advice and their legal services if you are eligible for an appeal.

Once you are allowed to work in the UK you should look for a job. This is not always easy and the government provides help in the form of their job centre help, most towns have them and they offer career advice from staff that are trained to help everyone look and get a job.

The Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 established new support arrangements for asylum seekers and their dependants.

The National Asylum Support Service (NASS), consider whether an applicant and their dependants meet the test of destitution as set out in the legislation and then to what extent support should be provided. If NASS refuse to provide support or, after they have been providing support, NASS decide to stop or withdraw it, an asylum seeker can appeal against their decision.

The Asylum Support will consider any subsequent appeal.

This site provides information about the service we provide and the legislative framework we work within. You will be able to access information about who we are and what we do as well as all our decisions. The News Section is regularly updated with details of new developments and information about the AS User Group.
